SEF-30036 Medical Coding Exam Prep Bootcamp
The class prepare students who elect to sit for certification exams offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) and/or the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). Learn to apply coding principles to correctly assign diagnosis codes, physician codes, and hospital procedural codes. Since students must meet the respective organization's examination criteria, practical experience is recommended prior to sitting for these certification exams. Prerequisites: 1) Completion of Medical Coding I course at Durham Tech or another college; AND 2) Completion of Medical Coding II course at Durham Tech or another college; AND 3) Completion of Terminology for A&P course at Durham Tech or another college. SEF-CEWP English for the 21st Century Workplace
The dynamic technological advancement, globalization and fast-paced environment have significantly changed the 21st century workplace, presenting new challenges for the workforce. Although developing English language skills of non-native speakers of English is central to effective communication, language development is also imperative to expand employees' soft skill-sets and new ways of thinking to promote success and advancement within the working environment. This eight-module course fully integrates English language skills, such as reading, writing, speaking and listening with the content focused on 21st century job skills. There are eight thematic modules: communication and social skills, critical thinking, decision making and problem solving, collaboration and team work, information and media literacy, creativity and innovation, productivity, technology and internet etiquette, and leadership. Besides the content focus, each module introduces, develops and reinforces English language skills so that the participants can increase their efficiency at work and can become competitive in a changing job market.

SEF-WELD Stick Welding Workshop
This 2-day workshop will introduce stick welding. The focus will be on stick welding flat. Students will be taught how to prepare the surfaces to be welded, which rods are appropriate for the weld, and how to set up the machines. Students will learn how to safely strike, run a bead, and to join separate pieces of metal. The purpose of the workshop is skill building. A prerequisite of MIG welding at Durham Tech or another college or demonstration of equivalent skill level as determined by instructor is necessary to take this course.
