A new year, a new list of categories for the Durham Tech Read Great Things Challenge! What is the Read Great Things Challenge? The Read Great Things Challenge is a personal reading challenge sponsored by the Durham Tech Library that encourages folks to diversify and/or increase their reading goals by completing books throughout 2020 that fit into at least 10 of the following 12 categories: A book of short stories or essays Someone else’s favorite book A book recommended by a celebrity book club

There is still time to check out one (or two or three or four!) of these new books to read over Thanksgiving Break. Books are a great conversation started at dinner and a great way to get some peace amidst the hectic Thanksgiving hubbub. We have SO MANY great new books that I can't include all of them. Some of the books not pictured are written by or about such notable people as Jackie Chan, Stan Lee, Harvey Milk, Malcolm Gladwell, Lois Lowry, Dapper Dan, and Edward Snowden. So come grab a book!

The end of 2019 is approaching so now is the time to look at what we've read and watched this year and determine the best of the best. We've chosen some of our favorite books and movies from our collection that we read or watched this year to highlight in a display inside the library. I'd like to give a shout out to one of my personal favorites from this year: Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men By Caroline Criado Perez This book made me angry on every page and I'm so glad

It (probably?) should go without saying that snakes and other pets are not allowed in the Durham Tech Library, but just in case you were wondering, based on a pretty popular news article going around lately, service animals must be approved as per college policy. Snakes are not approved service animals. And much more! We know you're as excited as we are. Noted literary critic Harold Bloom has died. The Durham Tech Libraries have over 350 titles in which he was a contributor, author, or editor.
