Science and Math
Taking a science class isn’t just about meeting a degree requirement. It can also give you a deeper understanding — and appreciation — of life and the world (and universe) we live in. Whether your goal is to transfer to a university or you’re taking a class as a visiting student, our dedicated faculty and staff are here to assist you.
University Transfer
The Associate in Science (AS) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate science degree at a four-year college or university. The AS curriculum courses focus on courses such as biology, chemistry, engineering, geology, mathematics, or physics.
Course Selection Guides offer college- and major-specific pathways for obtaining the associate’s degree and preparing for courses within the student's major after they transfer to a specific four-year university. They are based on the Transfer Degree Plans and major requirements provided by the four-year universities. Students interested in a major that is not listed or plan to transfer to a university that is not listed on the course selection guide can use the Baccalaureate Degree Plan and degree requirements provided by the four-year university. Please note that four-year universities do change their requirements without notice to Durham Tech.

Associate in General Education (AGE)
Students who want to follow a structured academic curriculum but have no intention of pursuing a baccalaureate degree may be best suited for the Associate in General Education (AGE) degree. This program is ideal for students who want to gain an associate degree for personal or professional goals, but do not intend to transfer to a four-year institution.
