Online Tutoring
In addition to face-to-face tutoring in the Center for Academic Excellence, current Durham Tech students have access to online tutors at any time through Upswing.
Students can access Upswing by using the same username and password used for Self-Service. Once logged in, use the search box at the top of the screen to search for a tutor in the desired subject area.
If a tutor is available immediately, there will be a link next to the tutor's profile saying “Get Tutored Now.” Students also have the option to book an appointment in the future. Having a computer that is equipped with a camera and a microphone is preferable but not necessary. If a student does not have access to a computer with a camera and microphone, they may email cae@durhamtech.edu or call 919-536-7232, ext 2404 to make arrangements for the use of one.
Transition Center Tutoring
The Transition Center is located in Collins (Building 2), Room 2-152 on Main Campus and Room 224 at Orange County Campus. All sections of Transition Math (MAT 003) and Transition English (ENG 002) are held in this location. In addition, students enrolled in MAT 003 or ENG 002 can return to these locations anytime during the posted hours below to work on course content and receive help from qualified tutors. Services are free, but the tutors will send a referral/notification to the student’s instructor.
Email cae@durhamtech.edu to make an appointment.
