The Durham Tech Scholars program is designed to enrich students’ educational experience by encouraging activities and providing opportunities outside of the classroom that connect student educational goals to relevant community experiences; to challenge students to broaden their world view through meaningful civic and cultural activities; to allow students to experience connections between their classroom pursuits and the next educational and employment opportunities they can seek.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Scholars Program, students must:
- Be actively enrolled in a Program of Study
- Be a student in good standing, with an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Complete the Survey form (see below)
- Complete at least one approved activity (see list of options) each semester
- Enrollment is ongoing and there is no time limit
Scholar Designations
Students that successfully complete the full program by achieving 40 points worth of scholarly activities will receive a Scholars designation on their transcript. Those who complete 20 points, will be recognized at an annual celebration. All active participants will be acknowledged during a celebration each semester.
How to Participate
To participate, students must:
- Complete the Scholars Program Application
- Once entered into the program, students will be contacted and given access to the Scholars Program Canvas site where they will receive messages and record their participation
- Maintain a GPA of 2.0 or better
- Complete at least one approved activity per semester

Possible activities for Durham Tech Scholars
This is not an exhaustive list and students in the program may propose activities that the Scholars Advisory Board will consider.

Violations and Restrictions
- Students in violation of the Code of Conduct may be removed from the program
- Students who do not complete at least one activity per semester will be under review by the Scholars Advisory Board
- Students who do not maintain the required GPA of 2.0 will be put on under review by the Scholars Advisory Board; if they do not meet the required GPA of 2.0 by the following semester they will be removed from the program designated inactive until they acquire the minimum GPA
