Hours for Obtaining Parking Decals and ID Cards
Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Saturday/Sunday: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Students and visitors may use any of the parking spaces in the campus parking lots except those marked No Parking, Loading Zone, Fire Zone, Reserved, etc. Parking is not permitted along curbs marked as fire lanes, on the lawn, on the sidewalks, in any college driveways, on a nearby business’s property, or in any manner which blocks or obstructs driveways.
Use of more than one parking space per vehicle is not permitted. Faculty and students parking at area hospitals, nursing homes, garages, libraries, child care centers, etc. must comply with the agency’s parking regulations.
Students may have difficulty finding parking spaces at peak class times (weekdays between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and between 5:30 and 8 p.m.) Campus maps, which indicate parking areas, are available in the Admissions and in the Campus Police and Public Safety Offices.
Identification Cards
To ensure a safe campus environment for all, students are expected to carry their identifications when they are on campus or at a college-sponsored event. Students must be prepared to show their identification cards when requested by Durham Tech faculty or staff.
The identification card may be a Durham Tech ID card or other official form of identification, such as a license, state ID, passport, or military ID. Any student wishing to utilize campus services or facilities, such as the libraries or computer labs, must have a valid Durham Tech ID card or Campus Access card.
How to get a Durham Tech ID Card
Each newly admitted student can obtain a Durham Tech ID card during his or her first semester or at the start of his or her program. To obtain a college ID card, the student must be registered for courses and must have paid tuition. An official photo ID, such as a license, state ID, passport, or military ID, is required along with a completed parking permit/identification card form, to obtain a college ID card. The college ID cards are available after the registration process is complete. IDs may be picked up at the Campus Police and Public Safety Office, located on Main Campus in Building 8.
Any registered student who does not have an official photo ID may obtain a Campus Access card. The Campus Access card will not have a photograph.
Do not discard your college ID card. You will use your college ID card throughout your career at Durham Tech.
Any student with a damaged Durham Tech ID card should bring the card to the Campus Police and Public Safety Office. A replacement fee is not charged unless there is evidence of abuse. If it is evident the card was damaged due to abuse, a fee of $10 will be charged.
Any continuing student who lost his or her Durham Tech ID card can obtain a replacement at the Campus Police and Public Safety Office. In order to be issued the replacement card, a fee of $10 will be charged, and an official photo ID is required.
Students who need to replace their Durham Tech ID cards because of a name change should bring their cards to the Campus Police and Public Safety Office. No replacement fee will be charged if proof of the name change is provided.
Each semester/term students will be able to obtain a new student ID updated for the current semester/term. To obtain an updated ID, students must be registered for courses and have paid their tuition.
Parking Permits
Every vehicle parked on campus must display a valid parking permit. The permit should be hung on the rear view mirror. The permit should face outward, so campus officers and college personnel can view it.
Any vehicle parked on campus without a current permit will be ticketed and may be towed.
Parking permits for students, applicants, and visitor passes are available at the Campus Police and Public Safety Office, located on Main Campus in Building 8 and use the same form listed above for ID cards. Permits are available are available after the registration process is complete. Parking permits are valid for one year and expire August 31.
Each student should complete the parking permit/identification card form and bring it to the office along with a driver's license and a copy of their student registration/schedule, to verify they are enrolled.
The parking fee for all credit (curriculum) students is included in the student administrative fee for each term and in the continuing education college access, parking, and security fee (CAPS). Students enrolled in classes that have no tuition costs are not required to pay the CAPS fee.
There is a $10 replacement fee for the hanging parking decal.
