Who We Are
Whitney Young, MPH, Paramedic
Whitney came to Durham Tech in 2020 to serve as the coordinator for the Community Health Lab. She grew up overseas in Costa Rica where she learned to appreciate diverse cultures and developed her passion for helping others. Whitney earned her Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and holds a Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University. Clinically, Whitney maintains an active NC Paramedic credential. She has experience working in education, emergency medicine, and the nonprofit sector over the last 20 years. She is dedicated to incorporating students of all types into the program because she understands the value and impact of gaining in-person experience. Whitney has a passion for advocating for marginalized populations that struggle to find appropriate resources and health care. This includes the uninsured/underinsured, immigrant and refugee populations, children, the LGBTQ+ community, and those from low-income backgrounds.
