Additional Fees
Students should also include textbook costs in their total costs as well as fees that are charged for some courses for special supplies, materials, or certification exams. Consult the 2023-2024 Student Course and Miscellaneous Fees (pdf) document for courses that have additional supplies and materials fees.
Paying for Tuition and Fees
All tuition and fees are due and payable at the Cashier's Window in the White Building entrance foyer, during the official registration period.
If registering via Self-Service, students may pay by credit card during the registration transaction. Students will not receive a bill and are responsible for paying by the established deadlines. Students may pay by cash, check, money order, or credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). Partial payments or credits are not accepted. No portion of a check made payable to Durham Tech will be given to a student except at the written request of the person making the remittance, and the written request must be mailed directly to the College’s Business Manager.
Paying Remotely for Online Courses
The most efficient and real-time way to pay is using the following options:
- Pay with a credit card, pre-paid card, or by check through Self-Service once you have registered for classes.
- Set up an online Nelnet Payment Plan
If options 1 and 2 are not possible, use option 3:
- Mail a money order or certified check to the following address:
Durham Technical Community College
1637 Lawson Street
Durham, NC 27701
ATTN: Business Office
Special Circumstance: The third-party authorization letter. Some courses may be paid for by an outside agency (vocational rehabilitation, JOCCA, or WIOA). Students must provide a copy of the “authorization to pay” letter from the agency along with their registration form.
Auditing a Course as a Senior Citizen
Senior citizens (age 65 years or older on the first day of the course) may audit credit or non-credit (Continuing Education) courses with the following guidelines as outlined in 1E SBCCC 1000.2:C:
- Tuition and Continuing Education registration fees will be waived. Students will be responsible for local fees associated with the course.
- Auditing a course depends on the space available in the course. The auditing student cannot displace students enrolling or registering in the course to receive a grade, academic credit, continuing education unit, or certificate of completion.
- Students must complete the audit registration within the schedule adjustment period during a term. Schedule adjustment is generally the first two days of a term.
- Self-supporting courses are not eligible.
Email registration@durhamtech.edu to obtain an Audit Request form.
