Additional information

Awards are contingent upon successful completion of current semester courses.

Courses outside of a student’s program do not count toward childcare awards.

Award Decisions

The following factors are considered in making award decisions:

  • Availability of funds and the applicant pool – Funding is limited and can vary from semester to semester. All students who are eligible for the program may not receive an award. Awards may be less than the amount requested.
  • Academic performance and student conduct – Applicants should meet satisfactory academic progress and/or show evidence of success with their program of study and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct. Faculty recommendations are strongly considered and must be satisfactory at minimum.
  • Financial need – Priority will be given to students with the greatest financial need, as demonstrated by FAFSA information.
  • Current situation – Each student’s circumstances are evaluated individually, including their course load and other commitments. All parenting students are eligible to apply for Child Care Grants, but priority will be given to students who identify as single parents and to students awarded Child Care Grants in the previous semester.

If you withdraw from a class while receiving the Child Care Grant:

  • Students are required to notify the Child Care Grant coordinator immediately.
  • The Child Care Grant may be adjusted.
  • The Child Care Grant may not be awarded for repeated classes.

Student Responsibilities

Students who are awarded Child Care Grants are required to:

  1. Select their child care provider(s) and provide all necessary information to the coordinator to ensure provider(s) are paid in a timely manner.

Faculty Recommendation Form

As a part of the application process, the coordinator must verify student’s enrollment in and completion of their courses for the semester. Students will be asked to send the Faculty Recommendation Form to instructors for all of their classes. Verification is required at the start of the semester, and subsequently during the semester to confirm that the student is successfully meeting class requirements.
