Fox Family Foundation committed to improving health care access with Durham Tech

In 2019, Durham Tech launched the CHL, a mobile facility dedicated to delivering interdisciplinary health education and outreach services. This initiative addressed a critical gap by providing health care access to some of the community's most vulnerable populations who face significant barriers due to limited transportation and financial resources. For more than five years, the CHL has served as a health care resource, provided access to health care for more than 14,000 underserved individuals in the Durham community and surrounding areas, and provided a valuable training platform for Durham Tech students.

Fox Family Foundation was created in 1991 by Dr. Frances Hill Fox to assist with her generous philanthropy in Durham and the Triangle. Dr. Fox was joined on the original board of the Foundation by her children. Together with community leaders who served as board members at large, they chose to focus the Foundation’s charitable giving primarily on organizations supporting arts, community services, education, and health.

Fox Family Foundation is proud to continue to serve the community through an enduring commitment to practical, carefully targeted support aimed at improving the quality of life for those who live in Durham and the surrounding area.

Durham Tech has made substantial strides in community health work over the past five years, positively influencing the lives of countless youths and adults in Durham and Orange counties. The benefits to Durham Tech students and our educational partners involved in the program are significant and enduring. Fox Family Foundation’s grant support will both sustain and amplify the work of Durham Tech’s Community Health Lab CHL, enhancing access to quality healthcare and building a healthier, more equitable community.
