Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation donates to Campus Harvest Food Pantry

Food Lion FeedsDurham Technical Community College has received a $2,000 grant from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation to help stock the Campus Harvest Food Pantry.

The Durham Tech Campus Harvest Food Pantry offers food to students at no charge.

Alexandra Gooding, Campus Harvest Food Pantry Coordinator, said the pandemic has leveled the playing field and caused everyone to experience challenges.

“This generous gift from Food Lion comes at a very appropriate time as inflation has suddenly popped up, so our same students and their families that were struggling because of COVID are still struggling now, hampered by inflation. It has been crucial to providing our students and their families with consistent pantry staples. It is because of organizations like Food Lion that we can help to relieve our students and their families of some of the hardships that come with buying food,” said Gooding.

Durham Tech’s mission is to ensure that all students develop the knowledge, skills, and networks needed to be successful in college, work, and life. The College is committed to helping students access essential resources, such as healthy and nutritious food, to meet their basic needs and succeed in and beyond the classroom.

Students interested in receiving food from the Campus Harvest Food Pantry can complete the Assistance Request Form.
