Durham Tech Chief Operations Officer named to national association commission

Dr. Susan Bowen, Durham Tech vice president and chief operations officer, has been appointed by the Board of Directors of the American Association of Community Colleges to serve on the Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation.  

The Commission is charged with focusing on transformation to improve student success, which includes administrative processes, infrastructure, technology and building human resource capacity.

Her appointment, effective immediately, runs through June 30, 2027.  

“We are sure that Dr. Bowen’s insights and leadership will significantly contribute to the Board’s decision-making process and its ability to serve the interests of all AACC member institutions,” the association said in a statement. “Dedicated leadership is essential to the continued success of community colleges and to our association.”

Bowen said she is pleased with the appointment and is looking forward to working with other college representatives.  

“I am truly honored to have been selected as part of this commission,” Bowen said. “I look forward to representing Durham Tech and developing greater knowledge for our College and others as we prepare for the future of our institutions.”
