Courses

This certification-related course will present the Technical Rescuer (TR) with the knowledge, skills, and ability to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Five (General) and Chapter Six (Ropes) of NFPA 1006: Standard for Technical Rescue Professional Qualifications. Individual courses included in this block course are Rescue Operations, Anchors and MAS, Fixed Rope Systems, Health and Wellness, Helicopter Transport, Horizontal Systems, Lowers and Raises, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rescue Equipment, Rope Basics, and Victim Management. FIP-6500 transfers as one block, in its entirety, to the Office of State Fire Marshal (OSFM). Students must successfully complete all of the individual Technical Rescuer courses that are part of this block to get credit for any of the courses and to be issued certification. This course should be offered consistent with the most current NC Fire and Rescue Commission guidelines. Contact OSFM for details.
