SAB-3029C Substance Use Treatment III

Substance Use Treatment III is one of three courses the Substance Use Treatment Program. This course provides students with information and strategies necessary to work with individuals impacted by mental illness and substance use disorder (co-occurring disorders), including an overview of criteria, co-occurring disorders, and issues of differential diagnosis based on the DSM. Completion of all three courses fulfils the 270 educational/training hours required by the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) for initial certification or renewal as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). This course can also be used to fulfil certain requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) for persons with a Master's or other advanced degree in a human services field. Prerequisites: 1) Must be at least 18 years old; AND 2) High School Diploma, GED/Equivalent, or college transcripts; AND 3) Completion of Substance Use Treatment I and II (for students with less than a Master's degree).
