SAB-3029B Substance Use Treatment II

Substance Use Treatment II is the one of three courses in the Substance Use Treatment Program. This course will focus on client education, stages of change, and types of recovery methods with special populations, as well as provide students with information and resources to improve their knowledge in the field and for the substance use certification exam. The course includes 6 hours each on the following topics: HIV/AIDS; STDs; bloodborne pathogens; and treating the military. Completion of all three courses fulfils the 270 educational/training hours required by the North Carolina Addictions Specialist Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) for initial certification or renewal as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). This course can also be used to fulfil certain requirements to become a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) for persons with a Master's or other advanced degree in a human services field.
