English as a Second Language (ESL)

Short Term

Durham Tech offers courses in English as a Second Language (ESL) to non-native speakers at several locations in Durham and Orange counties. Courses are free. Course offerings, times, and locations sometimes change without prior notice. Courses fill up quickly, and space is limited.

Durham Tech ofrece clases de inglés como segundo idioma (ESL por sus siglas en inglés) en los condados de Durham y Orange. Las clases son gratis. Las clases, horarios, y los lugares donde se dictan las clases pueden cambiar sin previo aviso. Las clases de ESL se llenan rápido. Los cupos son limitados.

ESL-LEVEL1A Beginning 1A

A course for English language learners at the beginning literacy level (as determined by placement testing). Students develop literacy skills while practicing listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

A course for beginning-level English language learners (as determined by placement testing or by completion of Level 1A). Students enter with very limited skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing and develop these skills throughout the course.

A course for high-beginning English language learners. Level is determined by placement testing or by successful completion of a beginning-level course.
