Can’t get enough streaming video?

You’re in luck--the Durham Tech Library now has more online video content!

AVON(link is external) (Academic Video Online) is a new library database we’re excited to offer.  It features 70,000 searchable, citable, closed captioned titles spanning a wide range of subject areas (allied health, art, automotive technologies, business, counseling, communication studies, criminal justice, engineering, history, psychology, sociology) and even feature films(link is external) and award winners.

Want to see some of AVON's options? Keep reading!

(Yes, Spanish instructors, Volver is here!)

Like the Films on Demand(link is external) streaming video database (also offered by the Library), AVON is in our library databases list(link is external)

While both the AVON and Films on Demand databases have content in common, much is unique to AVON.

For comparison:

Publishers you can't access via Films on Demand: Dow Jones (starting Feb. 2019), Milestone Films, Bloomberg Media Distribution, 60 Minutes, BroadwayHD, Sony Pictures Classics, Dallas Learning Solutions, Wiley's For Dummies, IFC Films, Assoc. for Supervision and Curriculum Dev. (ASCD), Microtraining Associates. Mutual Content Providers: CNN (starting Feb. 2019), A&E Networks, PBS, BBC, Media Rich Learning, First Run Features, VEA, Annenberg Learner, National Geographic, Oscilloscope Pictures, MacNeil/Lehrer…

Want to learn more?  Check out Avon’s highlighted contents(link is external) or learn how to search AVON(link is external)

As with all our library databases(link is external), you’ll use your Durham Tech username and password to access it off-campus (same as you'd use for Sakai or Self-Service).

As always, if you have questions, you can connect with a librarian!   We’re happy to help you find your answers.
