Introducing The Recording Room! And Other Durham Tech Library Study and Collaborative Spaces
Need a quiet space to attend a webinar? Or record a lesson? Or present at a conference? Or go to a meeting?
Have we got the space for you!
Introducing the [long talked about and now finally mostly finished] Main Campus Library RECORDING ROOM!
The Recording Room, located in the Main Campus Library in room 5-213, has four visual zones for video recording needs-- an accent wall featuring Durham Skyline wallpaper (designed by local artist Katie Hayes of Katie Hayes Creative and New South Pattern House, printed by Spoonflower), a "home office" bookshelf background, two chairs for interviews (with recent historic Durham maps), and a whiteboard for filming instruction (with sound baffling panels).
While this room is not appropriate for music production or recording, it is designated as a quiet space for your audio or video needs.
Who can use the Recording Room?
All current Durham Tech faculty, staff, and students can use the Recording Room. Recent alumni needing it for job interviews may also request to use the Recording Room.
How can I use the Recording Room?
The Recording Room is open while the Main Campus Library is open.
Unlike our other study spaces, the Recording Room can be reserved up to 6 weeks in advance using our Reservation System. You will receive email confirmation of your reservation and it will mark that time off on the calendar. If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so by either contacting the Library (library @ durhamtech.edu) or following the instructions in your confirmation email.
Once it is time for your reservation, go to the front library circulation desk and you will check out the room. We can register you for a library account using a photo ID, preferably your Durham Tech ID. A Durham Tech Library staff member will unlock the room for you. If you need any Tech Tools, you may also request those.
Need help making a reservation? Email the Library at library @ durhamtech.edu.
If you want to use the Recording Room without a reservation, go to the front circulation desk and request to use the Recording Room. You'll check it out using your Durham Tech Library card (like all of our study and collaborative spaces available for checkout).
The time limit, like all of our study and collaborative spaces, is 2 hours. If you need it longer, let us know.
Curious about other study and collaborative spaces across the Durham Tech Campus Libraries? Check out our new Spaces page on our Library Procedures Guide. This page gives an overview of the spaces available for checkout and just for general use at all our branch campuses.
Not sure what you want to use our awesome new Recording Room for but want to stop by and check it out? Head on over to the Main Campus Library and ask at the front circulation desk. We'd love to show it off.
Can't make it quite yet but want to check out a quick 360 of the Recording Room? Well, we've also got you covered there, too.
