Hear ye, hear ye! Library Announcements!
A few quick Library-related announcements--
Our last Crafternoon of the semester is coming up on Tues., Nov. 14 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Orange County Campus and Wed., Nov. 15 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Main Campus Library. We'll be making buttons and word bracelets, allowing you to create your own motto or mantra to wear around your wrist.
Here's where we need YOU: Do you have any beads hanging around at home? Did you buy a thousand letters for some T-Swift friendship bracelets and now aren't sure what to do with the remaining 900? Do you have some fun beads that are just hanging around waiting for a purpose? Are you ready to clean out your high school beading stash (cough, cough, totally not Meredith)? Well, good news-- the Durham Tech Library wants to take your bead donation for our final Crafternoon! Drop it off in the Main Campus or Orange County Campus Library by Friday, Nov. 10.
The next Durham Tech Faculty/Staff Reading Circle selection will be Visual Thinking: The Hidden Gifts of People Who Think in Pictures, Patterns, and Abstractions by Temple Grandin. Meetings will be held virtually from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursdays (Nov. 9, Nov. 16, Nov. 30, Dec. 7 and Dec. 14).
The book club meeting for The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb will be held in person on the Main Campus on Wednesday, Dec. 13 (time TBD).
Want to join or follow along? Contact Meredith Lewis (lewisma@durhamtech.edu) and you'll be added to our Teams groups with further info.
Have you been reading this year and want a prize to celebrate? Check out the Durham Tech Library's Read Great Things Challenge, now in its sixth year! Read books that fit in categories, and win a prize!
Not quite done? You've got until December 31, 2023 and only need 5 strategically chosen books. Get reading!
And a quick heads up: We'll be transitioning to a new library catalog in December, so please be patient with us during our upcoming transition. It's long overdue and we're super excited, but change is always a little bumpy. For a bit more information, check out the State Library's LSTA Grant page for the 2023-24 awardees (it's under Responsive Organizations --> Cleveland Community College: Evergreen Migration for CC Libraries!). We'll be transitioning with 25 other community college libraries.
