Activate your Self-Service Account and Log into Student Email
At Durham Tech you are automatically assigned an official email address after you have been accepted to the college. Once you have activated your account through Self-Service you will be able to log into your student email account for the first time. Your student email account is linked to your Self-Service and Canvas accounts. To access your student email account you will use your Durham Tech username and password.
Step 1: Activate your Self-Service account
Use your Student ID number and Durham Tech username to log in. Your Durham Tech username is the first 15 characters of your last name + your first initial + the last 4 digits of your student ID number. User names do not contain spaces, hyphens, or other special characters.
Step 2: Go to Microsoft Outlook
To access your student email account, click Sign In, and enter your Durham Tech username + @durhamtech.edu. On the next page, you will enter the password you created when you activated your Durham Tech student account and then click the Sign-in button. Once signed in, you will be directed to your Outlook inbox. If you want to access Outlook through your Office 365 dashboard, click on Outlook in the left sidebar.
This is the official channel Durham Tech will use to correspond with students. You may notice that you already have several unread messages. You want to ensure you are checking your email account frequently so you don't miss any important information from Durham Tech.
