Durham Tech Small Business Center Courses
Presented within a classroom environment, these hands-on courses offer a wide range of specific small business topics, along with the opportunity to apply this new information immediately. Courses are held at Durham Tech’s Small Business Center, located in the SOUTHBank Building in Durham or at the Orange County Campus in Hillsborough.
Important Note: Registration is required for all courses and must be completed by the Thursday of the week prior to the start of each course. If registration enrollment is low, classes may be canceled.

SBC FOCUS: SBC Facilitating One-on-One Counseling to Uncover Solutions
The Small Business Center provides 30-minute, one-on-one counseling sessions for current clients and attendees to meet with professionals focusing on a specific issue or set of issues. For example, talk to a banker about loan readiness, an intellectual property attorney about trademark issues, or a strategist to brainstorm. Current clients and attendees will receive an email roughly two weeks in advance with information on when and how to register for one of the available slots. Slots are very limited.
The SBC WIRE: Webinars as Internet Resources for Entrepreneurs
SBC webinars are here! Starting this fall, SBC WIRE provides one- or two-hour sessions packed with current information beneficial to entrepreneurs. Sessions will be held on various topics at various times. Beginning in August, monthly schedules for the upcoming month will be available at the SBCís website, LinkedIn and Facebook pages, in the SBC Own It newsletter, at the SBC Resource Center, and at the Small Business Center. The schedule will also include replays of recorded sessions.

Entrepreneur in Action: From Idea to Implementation
Students are led by an instructor through the business planning process to develop their business ideas into a well-thought-out basic strategic business plan. Students leave with a written plan and a complete presentation. Students should be proficient users of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and the Internet, which will be used extensively throughout this course to complete assignments. This dynamic online course helps students conceive, test, and create a new business venture around a unique idea following principles from Business Model Canvas, Lean Startup, and Customer Development methodologies. Students should be proficient users of the Internet, which will be used extensively throughout this course to complete assignments. Fund Development for Social Entrepreneur
Students are led by an instructor through the fund development planning process. The process is designed to help students think or rethink how to create an organizationís fund development plan; understand what should be included in the plan; learn the essential steps in creating the plan; discern the major challenges to the process; and improve their ability to diversify and increase organizational funding sources. By following this courseís process, each student will leave with a fund development plan that can sustain organizational missions, goals, and programs.
