Pre-Major Agreements and
Study Tracks
Pre-major agreements and locally developed study tracks for certain
areas of study are available for distribution to students. Copies of
the agreements can be found in the Phail Wynn, Jr. Student Services Center, room 1200 and in the
Phillips Building, room 313.
The pre-major agreements have been developed through negotiations between
the university system and the community college faculty and then were
made specific for Durham Tech students. They serve as a blueprint for
guiding community college students in selecting courses appropriate
to their selected major. Students who successfully complete the courses
of study as defined by the pre-major agreements and who meet the requirements
for admission to the university are eligible to apply for admission
to the major with junior standing. These agreements
are meant as a guide. The student should not assume that it addresses
unique requirements set by his or her university of choice. It is the
student’s responsibility to become aware of individual requirements
of the senior institution.
Also available are study-tracks. A study-track is a listing of courses
that either the faculty at Durham Tech recommends as appropriate for
a pre-professional degree or has been developed in collaboration with
a particular college. They serve as a blueprint for guiding community
college students in selecting courses appropriate to their selected
major. These agreements are meant as a guide. The
student should not assume that it addresses unique requirements set
by his or her university of choice. It is the student’s responsibility
to become aware of individual requirements of the senior institution.
