Nursing Entrance Test (NET)

testing pPhotoThe NET test is designed to help students identify which of their academic processing skills must be sharpened before they begin their advanced nursing education. Research has shown that identifying areas students need to work on and providing assistance in those areas will increase the student's change of being successful in the nursing program.

The NET test measures an individual's ability in the following areas:

  • Essential math skills
  • Reading comprehension for science textbooks and reading rate
  • Critical thinking appraisal
  • Written expression
  • Basic science
  • Test-taking skills
  • Stress levels
  • Learning styles

The NET composite score consists of the average of a student's mathematics and science reading comprehension scores. Therefore these are important areas to concentrate on in preparing for the NET test.

The library has free resources that can help you prepare for this test and practice the types of questions that will be included. Follow the directions for signing in on the Learning Express Library web page. This resource contains nursing entrance practice tests as well as other practice tests for reading comprehension and Mathematics skills. There are also a limited number of study guides available on reserve in the library.

Resources for exam preparation are available at http://www.eriworld.com/products_resources/students/index.aspx.
