| This course is a basic survey of the music of the Western world. Emphasis is on the elements of music, terminology, composers, form, and style within an historical perspective. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills in basic listening and understanding of the art of music. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for the general education core requirement in humanities/fine arts. |

This course introduces various musical styles, influences, and composers of the United States from pre-Colonial times to the present. Emphasis is on the broad variety of music particular to American culture. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills in basic listening and understanding of American music. | This course provides an opportunity to perform in any combination of instrumental, vocal, or keyboard groups of two or more. Emphasis is placed on the development of performance skills and the study of a variety of styles and periods of ensemble literature. Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate skills needed to participate in ensemble playing leading to performance. This course has been approved for transfer under the CAA as a premajor and/or elective course requirement. |
