Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, some college preferred; a valid North Carolina driver’s license; must be at least 21 years of age; a working knowledge of the laws relating to the rights of suspects, search and seizure, and the methods, procedures and practices used in investigation; proven ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations; one year of experience in law enforcement or security profession; NC police certification, BLET certification or lateral transfer preferred; and current CPR/AED and basic first aid certification, or be able to obtain certification within three months of employment.  Also, must have a clean criminal history and no DUI; be capable of walking up and down flights of stairs and walking for extended periods of time; and be able to work variable hours, including weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.  Moderate physical labor may be required on occasion and working outside in adverse weather conditions is common.  A thorough background, character investigation and reference check will be made before appointment.  Drug testing will be required of all finalists and psychological and medical exams required after conditional offer of employment.
