(Durham, N.C.) – Dr. Bill Ingram, president of Durham Technical Community College, has been selected to serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges. Dr. Ingram will join 76 other commissioners who represent approximately 800 institutions belonging to the Commission of Colleges. As a commissioner, Dr. Ingram will help determine policy, make decisions regarding the accreditation of higher education institutions in the Southeast, and present modifications of accreditation standards for a final vote. In addition, Dr. Ingram will serve on one of the Compliance and Reports committees.
Dr. Ingram earned a bachelor's degree in English from Ohio Wesleyan University. He earned a master's degree and his doctorate in Adult and Community College Education from N.C. State University.
During the 1980s, Dr. Ingram was special assistant for Durham Tech’s Off-Campus and Weekend College, becoming director in 1992. Three years later he was named dean of Technical and Vocational programs. For 10 years, he was the college’s senior vice president and chief instructional officer. He became president of Durham Tech in January, 2008.
