(DURHAM, N.C.) – Durham Technical Community College will host a Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) course in conjunction with the CISM Team at UNC Hospitals on May 19 and 20 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course, which will be held at Durham Tech’s Orange County Campus in Hillsborough, is geared for those who are public safety, public health, and disaster workers, emergency action plan (EAP) administrators, chaplains, nurses, crisis counselors, school counselors, and others who work in crises settings. The course emphasizes core concepts of trauma, psychological crisis, and crisis intervention. The course includes fundamentals of crisis communication techniques, role play exercises, problems encountered in working with those in crisis, and more.
