9. Use of College Logo, Seal, Slogan, and Affirmative Action Statement

Durham Tech’s logo, seal, and slogan are used to add visual impact to our printed materials and to create a memorable image in the public’s mind.

For this reason, every official document should include either the logo or the seal. When possible and appropriate, use our slogan. Please consult with Marketing and Communications Department staff about placement and use in your materials.

NOTE: All official documents should be proofread and/or edited using the college’s Style Guide before they are distributed. You are welcome to seek assistance from Marketing and Communications Department staff with questions at any time.

9.1 Logo

The typeface and triangle graphic of the college’s logo were designed to capture Durham Tech’s high-tech focus and its dedication to providing training to Triangle residents.

No element of the logo is to be modified or blended with other designs, drawings, or wording. You may not re-create the official logo using your own artwork or typeface.

Consult Marketing and Communications Department staff when you are incorporating the logo into a publication or have any questions about its use.

9.2 Seal

Durham Tech’s seal is the official identification of the college on diplomas, commencement programs, academic certificates, and other legal documents. Most other documents will use the logo, not the seal.

Marketing and Communications Department staff must approve the use of the seal.

9.3 Slogan

The frequent use of Durham Tech’s slogan is crucial to remind our community that the college exists to provide practical, productive training for adults, businesses, and organizations.

9.3a In headings and titles

Capitalize as shown below.

In most cases, set the slogan off either with quotation marks or italics.

Durham Tech is committed to Creating Success in the Triangle and Beyond.
“Creating Success in the Triangle and Beyond” is always our goal.

9.4 Affirmative action statement

Our official affirmative action statement reads as follows:

Durham Technical Community College is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity, ADA, Section 504 Institution and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, or disability.

This statement should appear on all official publications of the college.

Because of the length of the official statement, the following shortened statement may be used:

Durham Technical Community College is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity/Section 504/ADA Institution.

Questions regarding the use of these statements should be directed to the college’s Affirmative Action officer or to Marketing and Communications Department staff.
