Study and Travel Abroad to the Dominican Republic in Summer 2014!

Travel Dates: June 22 – 29, 2014 (tentative)
Course information: Explore Caribbean society and culture in the International Cultural Exploration course (HUM 180). Students will learn about the history, culture, and literature of the Dominican Republic and then travel to see famous cultural sites during the travel component of the course. This course has been approved to satisfy the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement for transferability as a premajor and/or elective course requirement.
Draft Travel Itinerary
- Age 18 or older
- Register for HUM 180 for summer 2014
Preference is given to applicants
- who are enrolled in a degree program at Durham Tech
- who have completed at least 18 credit hours of their degree program
- have a minimum 3.0 GPA
- have successfully completed ENG 111
Spanish language skills are not required, but highly encouraged
Durham Tech is offering competitive scholarships for eight students for this program.
Students who receive this scholarship will pay a reduced program cost of $900.
The program expenses include:
- Round trip airfare from RDU to the Dominican Republic
- Accommodations with two meals a day
- Guided tours
- Travel insurance
Costs not included in the program expenses:
Students who receive the scholarship will be required to pay a non-refundable $400 deposit by April 17 and the $500 remaining balance by May 12.
Deadline extended! Applicants must complete and submit all of the parts of the Study Abroad Application Packet by 5 p.m. on April 9, 2014.
